Tēnā koutou ngā mātua o te kura – Dear Parents

Congratulations to Koston MacDonald, Kahleal-Pace Reti and Jahmaige Reti-Young on being selected for the 2018 Ross Shield Team.  We look forward to hearing all about how the season goes.  We are proud of all our students who attended trainings and took part in the games.

We invite you all to the memorial of Jack Williams this Saturday, 11am, at Terrace School. We would like all Terrace students attending to be in full, tidy school uniform. The students will be taking part in the memorial by performing a waiata. After the powhiri, a blessing will take place.

Just a reminder that parent teacher interviews are being held next week Tuesday the 28th and Wednesday the 29th of August. Please be aware that school will finish at 12pm on Wednesday the 29th and we ask kindly that you collect your child at 12pm on Wednesday. The Tavistock Bus will be leaving at 12pm.

On Tuesday, 18th September, there will be a school whānau hui, please put this into your calendar.

Good luck to our boys on the Taranaki Barefoot Sevens! We are so excited to see how well you do.

GREETINGS FROM OUR STAFF

To those who do not know me, my name is Lara Smith and I am teaching the Year 4 class in Room 7 at Terrace School this year. I have been teaching at Terrace for 5 years and love being a part of this diverse, supportive and exciting community. This term I have taken on the roles of Assistant Principal and Junior School leader.

I am married to Richard and together we have 4 children. Josh is 19 and at Waikato University this year to begin a degree in teaching, Finn is 17 and in Year 12, Angus is 15 and in Year 11 and Lottie is 8 and again has to share the class with her mother! We live just outside Waipawa and share our house with 2 dogs (Pipi and Molly), 3 cats (Pilchard, Ranger and Hugo), 1 guinea pig (Gene) and 6 chickens and a rooster (Rocky).

Kia ora koutou,

Ko Ben Carpenter tōku ingoa.

Ko Ngai Tahu me Ngāti Kahungunu ōku iwi.

This is my third year teaching at Terrace school in the senior bilingual class, now named Te Kōhure. I returned to Waipukurau (my home town) after studying in Dunedin for 5 years.

My passions are diving, fishing, rugby and more importantly the revival and survival of Te reo and Tikanga Maori.

I currently live in Waipukurau having bought my first house, play rugby for Otane rugby club and have a wonderful partner and family.

My intentions are to continue improving my teaching practise while getting some necessary travel in when possible.

Nga manaakitanga,

Ben Carpenter
