Tēnā koutou ngā mātua o te kura – Dear Parents

Congratulations to all our new prefects.  They proved themselves not only pushing their way up Te Mata Peak but also in the way they have displayed leadership leading up to the walk.  The students selected a range of leadership skills while the Head and Deputy students are able to lead in all areas.

I look forward to watching the leaders at sports events and representing Terrace School, enter competitions and continue to develop our cultural identity and ability to participate in the Arts.  We are still in the middle of sorting out the senior house leaders and these will be ready to go by next week.

The Prefects will meet with me every Wednesday to work on their Leadership skills and are fortunate to be attending an ice skating session for team building.

We were very lucky to have a past Terrace student visit our school last week.  Connor Rolston received our School Dux in 2006.

It was really lovely to put a face to such an important name.  We enjoyed learing about what you are doing now.  Thank you for your time.

Our Commissioner Anne King will be at school today.  We will have a powhiri for her at 1:00 pm.  Board members and the community are welcome to attend.  She will be holding meetings later on in the term to talk with whānau.  Ms King will then be speaking with me and meeting the staff.

Enjoy your week.

 CELEBRATING OUR SUPPORT STAFF

Hi my name is Gael Rolston.  I’ve been at Terrace School for about 17 years.  I thought I would be cleaning tables and sharpening pencils, how wrong I was.  The children have taught me so much about how they see the world that helps me find a way to show them how to learn.  It brings me great joy when they get it.
